The Core of Biblefox – WordPress

November 23, 2008 in Features

Biblefox is all about studying the bible, and sharing with others what you have learned. Over the last few years, blogging has become an amazing way to share information of all kinds, with blog topics ranging from national news stories to personal journal entries. And of course there are already many blogs about the Bible.

We want to make blogging about the Bible as easy as possible. That’s why we’re using WordPress, the best blogging software available, and customizing it to facilitate studying and sharing about the Bible. With WordPress at the core, Biblefox blogs come complete with all the latest and greatest blogging features. And for those of you who are already familiar with using WordPress, you will be familiar with Biblefox’s blogging tools from the get go.

Here are some of the blogging features we have on Biblefox thanks to WordPress:

Write posts and pages

Write blog posts to talk about anything you want. You don’t have to limit yourself to writing about the Bible (although, that is what Biblefox is best for). Not only can you write blog posts, but you can also create pages to add to your blog. For instance, you could create an ‘about me’ page with your biography. Read more about posts and pages on the WordPress.com FAQ.

Great Writing Tools

WordPress has an easy to use blog writing interface that includes a simple WYSIWYG (“What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get”) visual editor and an HTML editor. WordPress looks out for you with its built-in spell checker and auto-saving features. And if you make changes to your posts that you don’t like, it remembers all your older versions so you can easily revert back to them. Read more about the WordPress visual editor on the WordPress.com FAQ.

Tags and Categories

WordPress provides easy ways to organize your blog posts by “tagging” them with labels that indicate what kind of content appears on the post. For instance, this blog post you are reading right now is tagged “wordpress” because that is what we are discussing. You can also group posts into categories. This blog post is categorized “Features”, because we are going to be discussing many Biblefox features over the course of this blog and we want them to be grouped together. Read more about tags and categories on the WordPress.com FAQ page.

Easy Importing and Exporting

You can easily import blog entries from your other blogs to Biblefox. You can import from Movable Type, Textpattern, Greymatter, Blogger, b2, and of course from other WordPress blogs. And if you end up wanting to bring your blog elsewhere, you can export it from here as well.

Comments and Discussion

WordPress facilitates great discussion by allowing blog readers to comment on blog posts. Write a post and see what people think! Read more about comment settings on the WordPress.com FAQ.

Multiple Authors

Each WordPress blog can have multiple authors, and they can each have different roles and responsibilities, such as writing their own posts or being an editor of everyone’s posts.

And Much More…

Yes, we are very proud to be powered by WordPress. You should check out more about WordPress on their websites. They have two main websites: WordPress.org, where you can download WordPress software for yourself (its free and open source) and use it to host your own blog; and WordPress.com, where they use their software to provide free blog hosting to anyone who wants it.
